Schelling builds for the first time the longest plate saw in the company history

The specialist in plant manufacturing technology, Schelling Anlagenbau GmbH, has been awarded the contract for the delivery of the longest high precision plate saw type FTM to the company S.A.B.C.A. (Société Anonyme Belge de Constructions Aéronautiques) to Brussels/Belgium.The Belgian company, a specialist in the production of components for the aircraft and space industries (for e.g. fuselage subassembly for the Airbus 380) with headquarters in Brussels, invests into this new high precision cut-to-size saw in order to extend their production capacity. Schelling offers the optimal solution: a high precision plate saw with processing options for aluminium plates up to 9.30 m length. Record-breaking!

Record Breaking technology
The high precision plate saw FTM consists of a turntable as well as two extra wide, moveable air floatation tables. This reduces the time spent for material handling. However, the 9,30m long high precision steel table is the core piece of the plant. The proven concept of the hard chrome plated high precision steel table with integrated air cushion in the entire machine table, leads to highest surface protection parallel with simplest material handling. The engine performance of the main saw is at 40 kW, the maximum board thickness can be up to 160 mm. The high precision plate saw FTM was designed for highest performance and tailored in many details to specifically match the customer’s requirements. The delivery was in April 2008.

Practised Schelling philosophy
Above all, the proven Schelling concept was the main purchasing criteria for S.A.B.C.A. In the implementation of this project, Schelling offers the complete engineering performance package as a one-stop service: starting with project development, design, production, installation up to commissioning. Orientation towards efficiency and development is a permanent process for Schelling and is entrenched in the Schelling philosophy.

In co-operation with the customer, the Schelling specialists worked out the perfect solution for S.A.B.C.A. Quoting Wolfgang Rohner, managing director of Schelling Anlagenbau GmbH: „With the building of this record-establishing machine with a processing length of 9.30 m, Schelling demonstrates its entire potential of know-how and proves once more to be an authority when it comes to fine cut solutions.”
